OEM PLC with Integrated HMI & Customizable I/Os

The Wx100 PLC has an integrated 16-key keypad and a 128 x 64 pixels OLED display screen. Likes its Fx series PLC cousins, Wx100 PLC supports full floating-point math and is programmed using the new i-TRiLOGI version 7.52 software that also supports programming of its new keypad, OLED display, HTTPS and MQTT client capabilities. Best of all, Wx100 connects to I/O terminals via a low cost ribbon cable connector, allowing flexible choice of I/O terminals as described below:

Custom I/O Boards

OEM machine or equipment builders can build their own fully custom-designed I/O boards that incorporate the exact number of digital, analog or I2C based I/Os needed, and add any preferred connectors, terminals or wire harness for quick connection to field sensors and actuators.

Therefore, Wx100 can be used as the control brain to build your own private-labeled custom PLC. OEMs now have the option of deploying an incredibly low cost, yet extremely powerful IoT-ready PLC for their equipment.

Off-the-shelf I/O Terminals

1. For basic I/O needs, choose Wx-TERM8 that includes:

  • 8 PNP/NPN configurable digital inputs
  • 6 digital outputs
  • Up to 6 analog inputs (shared with DI 1-6)
  • Special I/O such as HSC, Stepper Control, PWM

2. For additional I/O needs, choose Wx-TERM16 that includes

  • 16 PNP/NPN configurable digital inputs
  • 14 digital outputs
  • Up to 6 analog inputs (shared with DI 1-6)
  • 4 analog outputs (2 channel 0-20mA, 2 channel 0-5V).
  • Special I/O such as HSC, Stepper Control, PWM
  • Expansion Port to add digital and/or analog I/O such as the Wx-M1616

Add IoT to Existing Equipment

Beyond serving as a low cost, super powerful standalone PLC for OEM equipment, a Wx100 can also be an IIoT companion that instantly transforms your existing OEM product or factory automation equipment into IIoT (industrial Internet of Things) without any re-engineering! This allows OEMs to quickly update their products as IIoT-capable with minimal investment and zero risk!

  • No need to reprogram existing equipment
  • Wx100 connects to OEM product or factory equipment via RS485/RS232
  • Retrieve equipment data using Modbus RTU or an ASCII protocol
  • Or monitor equipment's I/Os using Wx100's built-in analog and digital I/Os
  • Publish equipment data to MQTT Server (Clear or SSL)
  • Subscribe to MQTT topics and transfer received data to the equipment via RS485 or RS232
  • Easy connection to HTTPS (encrypted) web server to upload files or data
  • May also act as a WLAN ModbusTCP to Modbus RTU gateway

Wx100 itself is actually an extremely powerful programmable controller with built-in MQTT and HTTP/HTTPS client functions and connect to the LAN or Internet via WiFi. It is able to act as a serial protocol master to an existing equipment's controller via its RS485 port. As such Wx100 can extract data from the equipment controllers, process it and then upload the data to a MQTT or HTTPS web server directly. Wx100 also has built-in analog and digital I/Os that can connect to your existing equipment for I/O monitoring or data collection. Therefore, Wx100 is a perfect IIoT companion to any industrial equipment that either has a controller with RS232 or RS485 port and support a serial communication protocol (e.g. Modbus RTU or some ASCII string based protocol), or has digital or analog I/Os that Wx100 can connect to obtain data.

So whether you have OEM products that need an IIoT upgrade, or you would like to add IIoT capability to your in-house production equipment without major re-engineering, a Wx100 can easily accomplish your goal with minimal cost and effort. In addition, Wx100 provides your equipment a mini-HMI that can make your product more attractive and competitive.

Of course, Wx100 can also be the main PLC if you are building a new product. It's incredible amount of capability at an unbelievably good price will ensure that your new IIoT-ready OEM product is highly competitive and attractive to your customers.
