That solved the problem, thanks for the quick action. :)

Should have noted, this on a Win ME SE2 computer with Java j2re1.4.2_10,

On a WinXP SP2 computer with Sun Microsystems, Inc. - Java(TM) 2 Platform Standard Edition 5.0 Update 6 Version 5.0.60.5,
works OK

Updating the ME computer to the later version of Java did not solve problem. Trilogi v 5.33 still works OK with later Java version.

While doing online monitoring, and clicking "view", all I get is an empty white window "view variables - integers". Version 5.33 works OK.

a thought, take the RS-232's through 4 small relays, select the relay to be active with 4 of the PLC's outputs. probably could also be done with a multiplex sort of chip, or a chip with 4 "AND" gates, could be TTL if the RS-232 levels are 0 and 5 VDC (non-standard)

Same with me, no help, put "E:\Trilogi\TL5" back in and help is back. Sorry about the false alarm, back on the wish list.

I guess we'll all be a little sheepish on this one. While going from WinXP desktop to open Trilogi, the little tag appeared with the opening folder. Go to the desktop Icon (and probably all other shortcuts) > properties, and delete the entry at "Start In", leaving it blank. Start Trilogi, open something in your favored folder, quit, and restart Trilogi, should be your favored folder. I think you could also enter your favored  folder instead of leaving the entry blank.

Probably the install software was changed. My Trilogi version is 5.3

Outputs # 41-56 of the MD-EXP4040 are TTL level, shouldn't that work? Also since the PLC power supply is running of 12 VDC, if I used relays, they also should be 12 VDC. I like the idea of the relays, and they are fairly small size and can be socket mounted to make maintenance easier. :)

I'm kind of a newbie also, but change the DCUSFUN to CUSFUN that will execute every scan. Not sure how the pulses go for that first scan only.

Technical support / Analog switches

With T100MD888+ and EXP4040, I may need a few more ADC inputs, and was thinking of an Analog switch chip. Are they suitable to control with outputs to select which sensor to connect to, the programming would take care of scaling, etc.?

Is there something in specifications to watch out for?

The applications examples show them before the Op-Amp, could the be used going int the PLC ADC in?
:)

Go to "Online monitoring", and click view, the ADC values are displayed, what happens when you ground the port or take it to the +5 volt Vref? You should see the extreme values of 0 and 4092. Are you sure the pot is OK?

Unless I missed something, my application is what Linear calls Bidirectional (the sense current can flow either direction as the battery is charged or discharged). Since the PLC can only use positive currents, Linear's example shows using an Op-Amp, and at this point I tend toward just using the Op-Amp and level shifting the inputs as discussed above. Thanks for the input, and still open to suggestions, but getting near implementing. :)

Along the lines of this thread, the Vice Module looks very interesting, would like to hook it to a phone line, control with T100MD888+. Would like to dial out in sequence maybe several phone numbers, voice one of numerous alert messages, receive tone command back on phone line, and then process command like, "other end of phone line acknowledges and stop dialing", "call next number, etc." Any help in this area would be appreciated. Application is a standby generator managed by the PLC that is also monitoring other items like sump pumps and freezer temperature.

Technical support / Re:Deleting deleted custom functions in *.PC5 file
« on: February 25, 2006, 02:25:55 PM »
Thanks for the quick reply, even on Sunday. Deleting the spaces and saving the file worked great. Also deleting all spaces after the actual text in the custom functions saved considerable white space during printing. I didn't have to resort to a text editor. :)

When printing the custom functions of a *.PC5 file that has deleted Custom functions in it, an empty block with only a number label prints (in addition to the normal custom functions). How can I delete these custom functions from the file. If this requires using a text editor, what are the delimiters of the info? Is the format of a PC5 file available?

I guess I forgot to say, but the current is DC only, like an ampmeter on an auto, can swing +/- as the battery charges or discharges and as a result the signal can go +/- also, and the one side of the signal is near the PLC's ground, except for line and connection loses.
