Fan Speed
« on: March 06, 2005, 08:22:53 PM »
Hello Can you tell me how to conect a small computer style dc fan with a speed pulse sensor ( 3 wire fan) to the pulse inputs on the T100MD-888.

I also need to program it to act as a tachometer and give me the fan speed read out.

any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

JROB

You mean computer fan actually has a speed pulse output? We don't have any experience with such device.  Hopefully other users have experience of such a device.

However, if you can determine that it is an open collector output (i.e. sink to 0V when turns ON and float when turn OFF) then you can connect to the PLC's input #3 or #4 for pulse frequency measurement in order to determine the fan speed.
