Excellink and Print#
« on: May 20, 2015, 07:35:41 PM »
Hi. Can both ExcelLink and Print# be run together? When I enable Excellink, most of the print# is written to a text file in fileservice directory but I do see some data missing at times. Is it possible that Excellink is using the port while MD888 is trying to write to file, hence the missing data?

No the two functions should not be used simultaneously because when ExcelLink accesses data from the PLC via the TLServer and RS232 port it is acting as a master and expect certain valid response from the PLC. When the PLC executes the PRINT #1 command it sends out its own data and that can corrupt the communication the ExcelLink is expecting.

Consider upgrading to a FMD88-10 - you will then be able to use ExcelLink via the Ethernet port and the FMD88-10 will be able to send connect to the TLServer via either the serial port or the Ethernet port.
