ExcelLink Timestamp TimeZone
« on: July 09, 2008, 10:51:44 PM »
ExcelLink is recording the date Timestamp into Excel 2007 on a Windows Vista machine.  The timestamps as written to Excel in GMT.  Excel time function, NOW(), records time in Central time zone (a five hour difference).

Why does the ExcelLink timestamp record time as GMT while Excel is recording time as Central time zone?

ExcelLink get the time from Windows and not from Excel. ExcelLink simply send what it gets from the PC to the Excel spreadsheet.

I tested ExcelLink on both an XP and a Vista machine. Both return the local PC time correctly. It is odd that your Vista returns a GMT time. But Vista is odd indeed - many things simply don't work as expected. It could be some system settings in your Vista PC that makes it return a GMT time to ExcelLink and ExcelLink simply report it to Excel.
