TM2424
« on: October 18, 2007, 05:22:35 AM »
Hello,
Question, One of my guys at a job was installing a TM2424 Controller and accidentally wired the 24V to the RS485. Now the controller is not responding.
What can be the problem and the solution?
He also installed a 1000?F 35 VDC Cap.

Hopefully the plc still good

If is just part, can you advise where to buy them from if is not from Tri.

You can get some advise from your TRiLOGI dealer and you also can order that part from him / her.

For PLC not responding, you can refer to the subject "Computer(s) won't see PLC any more - Please help" by paigeh and have a trial.

The RS485 driver is the 8 pin IC with part number 75HVD3082. If you are not using RS485 you can just remove it and if the PLC can still run and you can program it from COMM1 then it means only this chip is damaged. You can buy a replacement chip from Digikey (they have another part number 65HVD3082 is also equivalent) or other electronic component stores. An easier to find equivalent part is SN75176 if you can't find the 75HVD3082, although SN76176 is an older part and not so good compared to 75HVD3082 that we use on the standard PLC.

LT1785 is great. It can withstand +/-60V fault on its two inputs so if you ever connect the 24V to the RS485 again it should be able to withstand it without damage (well I still don't recommend that you try it for fun unless you have some spare chips around :) )
