FMD FW Revision 78A
« on: June 22, 2012, 02:08:59 PM »
Hi,

We use the FMD 16 PLC for a control system and we also utilise the web server function, both work well.

We recently supplied some additional panels which have the same PLC in each but the PLC FW in one panel was r77 and r78a on the other.

The PLC program works the same on both but the web page on the PLC with the later FW shows an asterix (*) on the LCD at the end of the LCD line text see pic.

Any ideas?

Starting from firmware r78 the PLC supports a new hostlink command "RV$0" which returns all 4 lines of the LCD display data separated by special separator "&|". This is more efficient than the older firmware where four commands "RV$1" to "RV$4" were needed to read 4 lines of display.

The default webpage M.JS on the PLC with r78A firmware make use of the "RV$0" if it is supported but will revert back to using 4 lines of "RV$n" where n = 1 to 4 if the PLC does not support "RV$0".

The standard control web pages 0.htm and 2.htm  shipped with the PLC would not show up the "*". You may like to check how your own custom web page interact with the functions provided in the M.JS file to find out what caused the "*" to appear.
