T100MD888 program gets corrupted.
« on: December 03, 2008, 08:16:11 AM »
I have had several instances where customers have reported problems with the PLC not operating properly.  Everything is fine for several months and then the problem occurs.  Reloading the program corrects the problem.   I am using a MeanWell 24V switching power supply.  In your installation instructions, you recommend using a capacitor/diode between the power supply and the PLC.  Could this correct the problem?  How about a surge suppressor? Any advise would be appreciated.

Is the main supply stable? Are you driving any kind of high current AC load with the same power supply. If so then it is a good idea to add surge suppressor to the AC supply. The Meanwell power supply should do a good job providing a stable DC power. But there is no harm adding the diode+capacitor to the power supply input to the PLC.

If you are driving inductive load then you should add flyback diode to bypass the inductive noise generated by the switching off of inductive load. If you are driving AC inductive load with contactor then add TVS (transient voltage suppressor) to the circuit would reduce the electrical noise generated that could corrupt the EEPROM program.
