Technical support / Re:Fx2424 PWM output
« on: September 16, 2015, 08:14:18 AM »
I went back an looked at the Fx2424 manual and its a bit cloudy on the issue. It appears that if I use stepper as step and direction outputs, PWM output 3 &4 are still available for PWM output, but PWM outputs 1&2  are used for stepper 1.

I have planned on the functionality of PWM output 3 while retaining the functionality of stepper 1 set up as step and direction output.

I will test today that the two being used simultaneously have no interaction on their functionality.

The special outputs section on its own is lacking in the detail that the stepper configuration section has regarding configuring the stepper outputs for step and direction vs. driver outputs.

Beta version 7.1 build 5 resolves the highlight and copy issue. Appreciate the fix.

In order to paste the copied text into the find window, you must use Ctrl-V . If I right click the neither the typical PC paste action nor the previous copy-paste menu appears. Not sure if this is what you intended, seems like an opportunity to improve the flow of the paste process.

Thanks

Technical support / Fx2424 PWM output

I have an application where I need 3 step and direction stepper outputs and 1 PWM output. I really don't want to use a Nano just for a PWM channel output if possible.

In my case I do not use outputs 7, 8 for stepper phase outputs, I would like to use PWM output 3 while still allowing stepper 1 step-direction output mode to function.

In simulation mode this does display correct value for the variable.

I can understand that variables that are generated from calculations or tests would not show correctly in this mode. I thought simple declarations  such as (A=45) done in startup equates would be shown - they generally don't change from program actions.

I think in manual on this feature you should make a statement that this feature does not show values for program variables unless in simulation or online monitoring. Even simple declarations in other custom functions will not be displayed unless the program is running.

I downloaded the latest Beta 7.10 build 4

Double click on variable name does select entire name as desired

If I right click while selected copy paste menu does appear

selecting copy not putting selected text into buffer to be pasted

if I do same select operation and Ctrl C to copy the selected text is in buffer and can be pasted with Ctrl V

Also now when select variable , in lower window other custom functions using this variable do display correctly

But current value for variable does not display after = sign as desired. I tried even inserting simple declaration such as A=45 in the custom function being edited and lower window shows A = 0 for variable value

The new features and up to date Java are great improvement, thanks for continuing to develop this fine product. New features very helpful and will save much time and money in development.

I thank you for your rapid response addressing these development issues.

If I go into custom function and select variable name while holding down left mouse key, variable name highlight in yellow and remains in yellow until I right click.

When I right click:

selected text turns back to white background (no yellow)

pop up menu for copy paste etc. appears and looks selectable

when I select COPY in appearing menu list and left click no apparent action takes place. previously selected text stays appearing as not selected

If I move to find box and do Ctrl V to paste previously selected yellow text  into box - text does not paste, only item that was last cut from previous copy - paste operation still in buffer .

Example from custom function:

H#_TUBE_FPM = (PULSEFREQUENCY (5) * 60) * FP[15]_MEASURE_FT_LINE

If I highlight the H#, as soon as I release the mouse left button for highlighting:

the H# remains highlighted in yellow in text
   and the bell rings
I do not get fly away that shows selections for copy, paste etc

I can paste this selected text with Cntrl V into the find text window.

After pasting text if I mouse click on anyplace in custom function box the highlighting of text in yellow is returned to normal.

I am running Java 8 Update 40

I also still have Java 2 SE v1.4.2_19 on the PC

Must old Java be removed entirely?

Technical support / copy paste issue
« on: August 31, 2015, 10:34:35 AM »
I have 7.1 build  02

In custom function editor if I highlight a variable name to copy it and press (cntrl_C) key the PC bell rings each time I press enter. The copy paste works but the bell is annoying.

Sure would be nice if you could highlight and paste using the mouse left and right mouse keys without the keyboard control keys - like PCs have done for many years.

Also not showing source of variable or custom function usage of variable when hover over the variable.

Technical support / Re:Terminate online monitoring when using ethernet
« on: August 26, 2015, 08:11:33 AM »
Great ! I was able to discover this after a bit of experimenting while I waited for your  response. I think your manual needs to add how to turn off online monitoring to the on-line monitoring section where it shows very well how to turn it on.

I normally start online monitoring by using the controller/online monitoring pull down. Ctrl-M is nice to turn it on - possibly the Ctrl-M function could be a toggle so it can both start and stop online monitoring ???

During debug the very nice online monitoring is used extensively so an easy and similar way to turn it on and off could be very helpful.

Thanks to all.

Technical support / Terminate online monitoring when using ethernet
« on: August 24, 2015, 01:36:01 PM »
I am using Fx242 with Triologi 7.03 Build 7 and Ethernet connection to my PC

I have no problem using On-Line monitoring, but can't seem to terminate online monitoring at the PC.

Control+M starts the monitoring - so what is the way to terminate it from the PC ?

Technical support / great suggestions for the Define table
« on: July 16, 2015, 09:08:15 AM »
The define table is a great tool!

I think a couple of additions would really be helpful:

Color coded variable names. If I define a variable name as an Integer it would be  a different color in the custom function than if I defined it as a floating point. I think this could help with declaration issues in coding.

Add a column in the define table to the far right COMMENTS. It would allow you to add notes associated with that variable.

In the simulator it would be great to show the variable name (possibly truncated to just the first 5 characters?)

Just a couple more ideas for the I/O table pull down menu:

Add a comment field to the right of all of the I/O fields so you could add notes concerning that I/O item.

Add two more I/O sections for the analog inputs and outputs. Having them in the I/O list would keep it all in one place.

Appreciate all the work you guys do to make this tool so versatile and easy to use.

Technical support / Read current STEPSPEED
« on: June 15, 2015, 04:07:19 PM »
I'm using a Fx2424 on a new machine.

I have an application where I would like to know the current STEPSPEED without having to resort to using hardwiring of step line into the HSC1 to do a FREQUENCY command.

The issue only will arise if I have to scale axis 1 to axis 2 while in the acceleration or deceleration ramp (follower).

I thought perhaps a register could be accessed to give current speed in SPS.

Thanks.

Technical support / dCusF clear and reuse
« on: May 28, 2015, 04:12:46 PM »
I would like to clear a previously used custom function for use in a different role.
I would like to rename the function also.
I would like the ladder to update to the new name.

I seem to be able to  rename it and clear of all old code it in the custom function editor but the name in the ladder remains as it was.

How is this possible with your fine software.

Thanks.

Technical support / Re:IF loop issue
« on: April 29, 2015, 08:37:00 AM »
Appreciate your response Gary on my issue. I understand the issues to do with total accuracy and capacity of the different types of variables. In this application the code produces reliable results within the requirements of the application at hand.

The use of the floating point data type greatly simplifies both coding and debugging code without the tedium of integer conversions. The TBASIC will produce an accurate conditional test of different data types. Each application has to evaluate the effects of rounding issues and the need to accommodate tracking errors.

The issue I’m concerned with is that if you comment out the IF conditional test line and the closing ENDIF, the code that was to be executed after the THEN  should function as if the IF test were never in place.

The current complier leaves the code highlighted in the custom function editor and gives the every indication it is standing alone and functional when commented out as I indicated, when in fact that code is dead.  I believe this is a bug that needs to be fixed.

I am running 7.03 build 6 on windows 7 64 using the ancient Java version suggested by Triangle.

Thanks.

Technical support / IF loop issue
« on: April 28, 2015, 03:59:50 PM »
I have been trying to debug a program and having odd results. Many wasted hours.

In testing I commented out the IF and the ENDIF of a loop but wanted to force the THEN commands to execute without the loop. here is the section of code:

'START START SKIP, BEGIN LOOP

'IF HSCPV[2] <= (S#_STRT_SKP_1 / D#_IN_PER_CNT) THEN      ' check to see if we are done with this part

SETIO BLAST_1      'turn blast on begin skip1
SETIO IN_STRT_SKP   'set relay to indicate in start skip now

'ENDIF

If you comment out the loop as I show here, the SETIO lines will remain highlighted as if they are now going to execute as if the IF loop were not in place. THIS IS NOT THE CASE, THEY ARE INACTIVE !
If I move the two SETIO lines out side of the commented out IF loop, they program functions as you would expect.
If program code is inactive, I should be shown by removing highlighting and color from the code.

Please consider this issue and change in a bugfix update. Possibly this ha been updated already?
