Technical support / Re:Load TLServer as a Service
« on: September 08, 2006, 04:05:15 PM »
I'll try a few other options.  I know the network is active because I VNC into the remote pc to log on and restore logging.  Thanks ...

I tried this, but as expected, it only works once someone LOGS IN.  If it worked as a SERVICE, then it would load in the background.  I also added the BATCH program to the Autoexec.bat area, but that hasn't solved the problem.

Any other suggestions?

Is there anyway we can configure or install TLServer as a system service?  I seem to get nuisance trips on my PC that cause it to reboot.  But the TLServer does not re-enable and I miss out on hours of data logging. And I get no email alerts because TLServer is needed as well.

Technical support / Re:Remote Access to FileService Directory
« on: February 15, 2006, 12:47:02 PM »
Thanks ... I have already been using VNC, but was hoping to use a direct connect via http.  This way I could embed the data source directly into an Excel spreadsheet.

I guess the only other way is to develop a "service" that copies the data set over to an FTP server.  The caution is now one of duplicate files.

Hmm ... has anyone ever tried saving a spreadsheet as a WEB Page, store the web page in /PUBLIC and let the page access the data set?  I'll try it and let you know if it works.

Technical support / Remote Access to FileService Directory
« on: February 15, 2006, 12:02:09 PM »
I have a PLC logging to the server as a .CSV file.  It defaults to /FileService directory.

I have PortForwarding enabled (9080) to my Server, but is there any way I can get access to the csv file located in /FileService?

(if I HTTP to my address, I do launch the runTrilogi.html.  So I know i can get through to /PUBLIC).

Any suggestions?

Technical support / Re:Adding CompactFlash to increase memory
« on: November 14, 2005, 06:02:54 PM »
I currently use a single M series PLC so I don't have the demand to support the development.  But I see this as a unique opportunity for Tri-PLC to provide a new feature no other vendor currently offers.

The PDA's not only offer increased memory, but the purchaser could use the product as a permanent or portable HMI unit. These hardened products incorporate the buttons and touch screens to operate controls as well as memory to leverage intelligent HMI's at a fraction of the cost. If the user wishes to purchase higher end PDA's, bluetooth and wifi are now a reality. I would consider paying for this interface software far more than the direct EXCEL applet you are currently offering.  It also eliminates the need for a server based on PC hardware installed local to the PLC.  It doesn't make sense spending $600 on a PC that is not industrial hardened to function as a data collector when the PLC is only $200.

Who knows ... I might even consider commercializing my application if the functionality was available and I could keep the packaged costs below $500USD.

Technical support / Adding CompactFlash to increase memory

Your memory option board still doesn't provide sufficient memory capacity I require. The cost of CF and SD memory has come down significantly so is there any way a person can add a compactFlash aux boards to your controllers?  I came across this product as one example.  e.g. http://www.mikroelektronika.co.yu/english/product/tools/cf.htm

If not, are you considering adding such a package?

Technical support / Converting non-linear Thermistors
« on: September 17, 2005, 10:02:48 PM »
I'm using 10k thermistors to measure temperature in ADC[1] through [5].  Because the output is non-linear, I need a simple way (other than a signal conditioner) to get near accurate temperature readings.

I read somewhere to use a tables (DM
  • ) and interpolating values.  Does anyone have sample code on working with tables, extracting the data and interpolating?

Alternately, is there a some other "soft" routine to calculate a reasonable temperature value?
