Technical support / Re:HSC

Yes. The inverter is providing encoder feedback. The encoder feedback goes through a ULN2003A pin 1, 2, 8 and pin 15,16 is connected to MD888 input 5,6. Pin 8 is connected to power supply 0VDC. First scan has setsystem 4,3. Anything wrong with the setup? The wire from inverter to ULN to PLC is not shielded. Any issues with that? Should not be an issue since input 3,4 is ok, right? Thanks.

Hi. Encountered a strange problem again. I'm using MD888 to control 2 motors via inverter using setdac. The motors encoders are connected to the inverter and pin 3,4 is connected to first inverter and pin 5,6 is connected to second inverter. Whenever I run motor 1, the HSC 2 is increasing / decreasing randomly while HSC 1 is normal. What can be the cause? grounding issues again?

Thanks.

Hi. Sorry I did not make myself clear. I did not start off with a standard off the shelf wire. I made the wire by just soldering wire to pin 2,3,4,5 of the RS232. It works fine for communication for past projects until the recent one that involves inverters and servos. After grounding the plug today, all is well so far.

Hi. In case there's some lost soul out there who are like me looking for answers, you can try grounding the 9 pin port of the plc connector. I did that and problem solved. I was making my own wire or 2,3,4,5 but no grounding of the 9pin port. Though pin 5 is supposed to be ground, it's not working somehow. Thanks for all the kind soul who have helped one way or another.

Good luck.

not sure if it will help but maybe you can use a desktop computer system to try? I'm wondering if laptop will have problem communicating since most of them are not grounded / earthed.

Hi. I've connected big fat wire to a single point from all drivers and power putlet but I'm still getting the problem. Any place to ground the PLC? I've only grounded the power supply. There's only +v and -v from power supply to PLC. I'm currently using power from a generator to test. Any help?

hi. Merry xmas to u. The -32768 is the problem i'm having. i'm using dec2bin function in Excel to convert it into binary in order to know which input is on. With this figure, the excel is having problem converting.

Hi. Currently have a MD888 loaded with a blank program, attached with a EXP4040. When I try to use ExcelLink to read input[2], the excel is hanging on me when I activate Input 32 on the EXP. I think it has something to do with the long integer of Excel? Any idea how to solve it?

1) 4 devices namely Md888 master, exp4040, md888 slave, and I7018
2) communication between 888 done in modbus ascii and i7018 using netcmd
3) both plc and i7018 next to each other

Problem with the I7018? any way to work around?

Hi. I'm trying out the modbus ascii communication between 2 MD888 using RS485. When Master 888 input 1 is on, output 1 on Slave 888 should be turned on. Sometimes the slave 888 will have a delayed response. Any way to improve the response of the system? I've put a 0.1s clock to write and read from the MAster to the Slave currently. Any problem with that?

Thanks

Hi. You guys really know your stuff well. The error is due to wrong ID in the excellink. Once the ID is corrected, it works fine now. Thanks.

Hi. I'm currently using modbus ascii to communicate between a master MD888 with a slave MD888 and at the same time using Netcmd$ command to communicate between the Master MD888 and the I7018. They are working fine from the Online monitoring. However, when I use excellink to retrieve the temperature readings, the networking fail. Excellink goes into suspension mode and online monitoring is closed and unable to find the master plc. Why is that so?

How do I use netcmd$ to write a value inside master dm[5] to slave dm[60]? z$=netcmd$(3,"@03wvd0005????)
where 03 is the slave id. what should the ???? be? Thanks.

Hi. I'm using the ADC to read a torque output of the motor by connecting to the motor driver. If the torque is applied in cw direction, the output is positive. However, if torque is applied in ccw, can the MD888 read it using ADC?

BTW, what is the type of output voltage? Is it pulse or simulation?

Thank you

Thanks for clearing the air on the I7018 part. So in order to make the whole system work, I should use netcmd$ by the Master MD888 to read data from other MD888 and I7018 or write to other MD888 and I7018?

Hi. Will there be any difference between using modbus and modbus RTU with I7018? As for using I7018 and MD888 on the same bus, setting different ID will not help?
