This is my first post and I have a question. Does anyone know how to read data from the CANbus on the new cars?
From what I can tell, DeviceNet was derived from CANbus which was developed by the automotive industry. I own a 2006 Toyota Prius and was thinking about reading some of the information from the devices on the CANbus for display via a LCD display. Example: Battery Pack Current in Amps, Engine RPM, etc.
Thanks!

You can read the data from the CANBUS on a car!
There is a download VAG-COM that is the software but you need to make an adapter from the car connection to the PC. Very possible, I have an Audi and made a cable to suit( Which includes a few IC's!) then obtained the software and reprogrammed various stuff on my car. Very cool and also very dangerous!
But, yes possible...
Cheers,
