Title: getting the 4x20 LCD to work??
Post by: TST955 on February 14, 2005, 10:45:08 AM
HI I have 1616+ ISTK
Got it communicating with the PC, OK, but cannot get the LCD to work. When trying to run the Clock or temperature demo program, all I get is the 2nd line and the 4th line on the LCD showing as solid blocks, I am sure it is a simple thing I am doing wrong. Can anyone advise !! ???

Try power cycle the PLC with the LCD plugged in.  If it still doesn't work then you may have a damaged LCD or a bad LCD interface. Please contact the dealer or if you have purchased from us, contact sales@tri-plc.com to discuss about the cause of the problem.

Remember, the LCD is NOT hot-pluggable. So never plug/unplug the LCD into the PLC with the power on as that can damage the LCD display or the LCD driver interface on the PLC.

Power cycle gives same result. Will try new interface cable first. Thanks :)

Check and make sure your PLC is NOT in PAUSE mode.

OK thanks, how can I tell if the PLC is in pause mode, it seems to be running OK - is there a command to use for this ???

Make sure DIP-Switch #4 is not set to ON position. If DIP-Switch #4 is ON, it will set PLC to PAUSE mode. If the PAUSE red LED is lit/ON, then the PLC is in PAUSE mode. The PAUSE red LED is located near the PLC DC power connector.

Sincerely;

Your LCD could be faulty. If so, contact the dealer or us for a replacement.
