What are the consequences of leaving COM1, pin 4 unconnected on the T100MD888+?

For T100MD+ PLC, only pin 2,3 and 5 are required. The rest can be left unconnected.

However, for T100MX+ as well as H-series PLCs, pin 4 is required to supply power to the opto-isolated interface.
