Title: E-mail support on 1616+
Post by: bastienl on May 10, 2002, 06:02:46 AM
I have several 1616+ in my plant and just recently tried to use the e-mail function for a new application I have. I am using Microsoft Outlook 98 on a corporate Lan and my mail server is a Microsoft Exchange server. When I setup the server in TLServer it states that the host is not found. Does the e-mail function support e-mail servers under Microsoft Exchange, there is no POP3 authentication instead we use the lan connection with remote lan authentication server. I maybe setting up the server in the wrong fashion do I need to and my username or just the name of the server, with or without .com ect.. ???

Can you ask your network administrator what is the SMTP server name in your corporate LAN. I.e. the email client program such as Outlook will use the SMTP server to send mail. This same SMTP server need to be entered in the "SMTP Mail Server" text box in the TLServer -> "Setup Emails".  You will also need to define the period which the TLServer will poll the PLC for email flag and then proceed to send the email.
