Technical support / F series, ethernet connection
« on: February 01, 2010, 11:33:10 AM »
Hello, I have a F2424 PLC, I would like to connect using the ethernet connection.  I have downloaded the connection specs using the serial connection as per the manual.  After going through the manual, I am a bit puzzled.  I found the following on 2.7 Web Service: Accessing PLC's data from MS Excel

"One example, which you can try immediately, is to use the Microsoft Excel 2000 (or later version)
spreadsheet program. First, open a blank spreadsheet, then click on the ?Data? menu and select ?Get
External Data? -> New Web Query, as shown below: "

Does this mean that you do not need to use your Tri-Excel program to pull data off the plc using the ethernet connection.  If that is the case that will help greatly.

When I connect to the plc using the ethernet, I am unable to get a response.  When I check my network connections the PLC is there but there is limited or no connectivity, I have tried turning off my computers firewall and changing security parameters to no avail.

When I try to ping to "192.168.1.5" there is no response. When I try to connect through my browser using "192.168.1.5:9080/hostlink/IR00." Still no luck.
I have tried using IR01 with no response as well.

I have also tried to manually set up the network connection using the parameters downloaded from the PLC using the serial connection to no avail.  Any helpful hints on what I may be missing.

Technical support / Connecting to M-7019R from ICP
« on: May 13, 2008, 08:19:41 PM »
Hello, I am having a trouble connecting to a new M-7019R from ICP using a T100MD888.  I have connected port 3 RS485 to the M-7019R, with another 888 plc on the same network, my Master plc is address 02, slave plc is 01, and M-7019R is address 00 as per factory setting.

My comm settings are 8 bit, 1 stop, 9600 baud and no parity.

I can communicate to the slave 888 via the network properly so I know my connecting is okay, I just can not seem to send out the initialization string to the M-7019.  I have tried all types of variations of initialization string as per the Trilogi samples and the ICP manual, but I just can't seem to get it to work.  When I check the serial buffer Z$ with online monitoring there is nothing there when I send the command to initialize.

The 3 components are only inches away from each other in the panel, I have used different ICP modules with my T100MD plc with good results, this one just does not seem to respond.

The difference with this model is that it will accept both DCON and Modbus protocol. Could you help me with the initialization string in Modbus format, as I do not have much experience using it??

Thanks for any help you can give.

Technical support / T100MD888 and Maple Systems
« on: June 28, 2007, 09:25:37 AM »
Hello, I have an application running with a T100MD888 and a Maple Systems HMI connected via 2 wire RS485.  The HMI is set to the default communication protocol on the PLC.

The communication works well but every once in a while randomly the com light goes out on the HMI, after a second or two it comes back on.  This may happen once or twice or continuiously on and off.

This is somewhat problematic because in this application the plc sends commands to a Delta Systems motion controller that hydraulically positions an indexing setworks bar for a wood edger.  If the operators select a size on the HMI while the com light is out, the plc does not receive the command until the com light goes back on.  If the operator has already fed a piece of lumber into the edger saw and the bar moves, the saw could be damaged badly.

What I need is to solve this problem, what I have found is after system starup the com light usually stays lit for some time, this can be 30 min or 2 hours, it is random.  Once the com light starts to flicker, if I turn the system power off and then on, the problem goes away.

Should I try different communication speeds to get rid of this.  Or can suggest anything else.

Thanks

Technical support / comms through RS485
« on: July 12, 2006, 10:45:11 AM »
Hello, I have a t100MD2424 running in an operation.

I currently have a Maple systems touchscreen on the RS232 port acting as a master, and a I7018 and an E10 running on a network on the Com3 RS485 port.  I would like to be able to monitor the PLC with the online monitoring function of Tri-Logi off of the RS485 port.  I have a RS232-RS485 converter to connect my laptop to the com3 port/network.  Is it possible to hook up this way or do I have halt the PLC from sending and recieving commands on the network while I have the laptop connect.

Thanks for the help.

Technical support / Connection to Maple Systems HMI
« on: October 11, 2005, 02:22:46 PM »
Hello, I am currently using a T100MD2424 with an I-7017 module using the RS485 network.  The PLC is the Master and the 7017 is the Slave.

I want to add a Maple Systems Touchscreen HMI, which I believe will act only as a Modbus Master.  Can I still have the PLC interrogate the 7017 for analog data and still respond to commands from the Touchscreen?  Or. do I have to reconfigure the system to have the Touchscreen interrogate the 7017 directly and then tell the plc to execute commands based on the data received from the 7017?

Primarily the HMI will be displaying readings of analog data recieved from the machine process, although I will be adjusting alarm setpoints on the display.

Technical support / Output Problem
« on: April 11, 2005, 08:41:30 PM »
Today while operating the plant, the TM100MD2424 #1 output began acting very strange, when #1 output was told to turn on, all of the other outputs began switching on and off at a high freq.  I changed the omron relay connected to #1 output and this solved the problem.  Could this have been due to a failed or shorted omron relay, or is this a function of the PLC hardware?

Technical support / Communications Cable
« on: December 29, 2003, 03:07:03 PM »
Hi, I am wondering if it is possible to construct a longer communications cable than the one provided when you purchase the Trilogic software package.

I have one of your plc's mounted in a panel in a very dirty compost processing plant, any programming changes I have to make are usually when the machine is running, there is a lot of dirt and debris falling into my laptop.
I would like to make up a cable around 25' long so that I can do programming changes from the safety of my service vehicle.

Thanks
