Technical support / 0-100khz frequency out
« on: February 15, 2011, 05:59:37 AM »
Gentlemen,

Can you recommend a simple way of accepting an analog input of 0-10Vdc and converting the signal to a frequency output of 0-100Khz using the tri-plc?  I will need to be able to trim the frequency as needed to achieve the desired output.

Technical support / TLServer as a service
« on: April 21, 2010, 07:40:19 PM »
Gentlemen,

Can I setup the TLServer to run as a service under WinXP. I am appending a file and when the machine operator reboots the computer,I have to manually start the TLServer each time. I do not wish it to open as a startup item, only to run in the background.

Technical support / Pulse frequency seems high
« on: April 08, 2010, 08:38:35 PM »
I am using Pulse Frequency function to measure the frequency of a rotating wheel.

My sensor is a one pulse/rev encoder attached to a 12 " wheel.  The wheel is riding on a driven shaft. I am intrigued by the large numbers.

I am storing the measurement Pulse Frequency 1 to variable (A) and reading that value with hyperterminal. My value in (A) with machine running is 4525 hz.

If sensor is one pulse per rev, then according to the value of (A) it is rotating at 4525 rev/second or 271500 RPM.

In one revolution, it advances pi*D. The 12 " diameter is 1 ft, so that is pi feet per revolution. It seems unrealistic, but if 271500 RPM is correct, that is 853 000 ft/min.

Am I doing something wrong? or maybe do not understand the function?

Technical support / SetCtrSV/SetTimerSV
« on: May 05, 2008, 07:53:58 AM »
I have discovered when executing either of the functions SetCtrSV or SetTimerSV from a triggered input or relay, I temporarily loose communication between my PLC and touch screen. I posted a question last fall regarding an anoying  communication problem with Maple System HMI where there was an occasional loss of communication with the PLC. I now see the same problem with Cmore touch panel. The only common denominator between the two systems is the use of these two function. Removing the functions eliminates the issue. In both cases they are being triggered by internal relay.

Any thoughts from Tri Research.

Technical support / Modbus RTU comm issue
« on: May 01, 2008, 08:44:10 PM »
I am having a communication problem between HMI and MD1616 PLC when monitoring online and using the HMI simultaneously.

I suspected the issue is caused by data collision resulting from the presence of two masters trying to poll the PLC at the same time on RS485 line, the PC and the HMI.

My setup is:

1. MD1616 sending data to VFD over RS485, through Com3 of PLC, Modbus RTU.
2. HMI reading and writing to memory registers in PLC, Modbus RTU through com1 of PLC RS232.
3. PC using online monitor through PC com port using Auto 485.

There is no problem until I press the HMI screen to set the motor in motion. I loose comms between HMI and PLC. Only by closing the PC com port in TLserver does communication restore.

Thanks for any input

Technical support / serial communication problem
« on: September 19, 2006, 03:43:33 PM »
I am having a problem with communication loss between my maple systems 520M and the T100MD1616+ plc.

The loss of communications is for about 3-5 seconds and happens with the touch screen configured RS485 or RS232.  The protocol is modbus.

Comms on the HMI are set to match the plc's defaults. The hmi is sending it's request every 3 seconds and I have confirmed this using hyperterminal.  All power cables are routed seperate from comms cables.

All relay coils are snubbed and all cables are shielded with shields terminated to a common ground.

Technical support / GETHIGH16
« on: September 16, 2006, 11:18:32 AM »
I have implemented the gethigh16 feature and assgned the result to DM[1].  Variable A is being used as the 32 bit counter.

With a value of 580,000 in register A, I read 88 in DM[1].

How do i convert this to an actual count in the HMI?

Technical support / Largest number in DM
« on: September 16, 2006, 05:29:11 AM »
I am using a DM register as a total products produced counter using each on/off transition of a photocell to increment DM[n] +1.

This works fine until count 32768 when the numbers display negative and decrements.  I am certain it relates to the max value a DM register can hold, but I am uncertain how to overcome this issue.

My HMI reads this register and displays it's value to the machine operator.  Any suggestions?

Technical support / 0-5V reference
« on: April 15, 2005, 07:15:47 AM »
First, thanks for a great product!  I use your T100MD1616+  for all of my OEM products.

I have found that when installed correctly, this PLC functions flawlessly.  I have one operating a communications system that has been functioning without incident for almost 2 years!

Now to my question.  I would like to use a 0-5V reference voltage to control low speed cutoff for a valve
that applies a coating to a surface at high speeds.  I have already used both high speed counter inputs for other measurement purposes leaving no available high speed inputs for frequency measurement.  Can I use the analog input to measure 0-4096 based on input voltage to turn the valve off at some predefined voltage level, or should I consider another method to achieve the desired result?  My project is on a very tight budget.

Thanks again for a versatile controller and great tech support.

Technical support / Changing HSCPV with pushbuttons
« on: August 02, 2004, 06:50:50 AM »
Is it possible to change the preset HSCPV and view the up or down change from the lcd.

What I would like to do is store a  predetermined encoder count value in a datamemory or variable, and be able to increase or decrease this value using a momentary contact switch.  When the encoder value reaches the value in my datamemory or variable, my custom function would be executed.

Thanks for a very good product.
