Title: Output Problem
Post by: willpower on April 11, 2005, 08:41:30 PM
Today while operating the plant, the TM100MD2424 #1 output began acting very strange, when #1 output was told to turn on, all of the other outputs began switching on and off at a high freq.  I changed the omron relay connected to #1 output and this solved the problem.  Could this have been due to a failed or shorted omron relay, or is this a function of the PLC hardware?

This is certainly not by design.  If the OMRON relay coil short circuited then the output may have pulled more than 1A and causes the output short circuit protection to activate to prevent damage.  Another possibility is that the power supply voltage is pulled low by the short circuit current momentarily which can cause the PLC to reset or the MCR pin voltage to drop so low that the output drivers are disabled momentarily.
