Have you interfaced any PLC's with m-bus enabled devices?

We are not familiar with it. A quick Wikipedia check suggests that it is mainly a physical layer interface. Usually a converter can be bought to convert from RS232 to the M-bus. If the protocol is ASCII then it may be quite simple to format the string that it requires and obtain a response from it.
