Title: RS-485 driver IC change

I remember reading somewhere the coms driver IC could be changed to provide better protection from network faults.  Could you tell me where I caould find this information?

Thanks for that

I am sure I read that a substitute ic driver is available to do the protection internally.   Perhaps I am thinking of another manufacturers PLC.

It is LT1785AIN8 made by Linear Technology. It can withstand fault voltage up to +/-60V, whereas standard RS485 driver cannot withstand more than +12V or -7V. You can remove the existing RS485 driver and replace it with LT1785.
