Technical support / Stable analogue input reading

Hi. Is it possible to have a stable analogue input reading from ADC? Seems like the readings are always fluctuating.

Thanks

Technical support / Communication with serial port

Hi. I have a computer A that outputs commands through comtrol rocketport to computer B. Computer A will send signal A, B or C and wait for reply like PASS A, PASS B, or PASS C, before it moves on to the next task. Can I use a 888 to replace computer B? All the codes of the computer is in C++. How do I do it?

Thank you.

Hi. Can I write to 2 different PLC networked together using RS485 under a same site? Currently dm[1] of plc 2 is being overwritten to dm[1] of plc 1. When I make the command inactive, the dm[1] of plc 1 is correctly written. Any idea why is that so?

Technical support / analogue input control analogue output

Hi. If I need to control a motor based on adc(1), how can I get a responsive control? eg, if adc(1) > 15, setdac 1,500. However, when adc(1) < 15, setdac 1,0. It has to do this while looking out for changes from adc(1) until an interupt is activated. Do I use a while loop? thank you.

Technical support / modbus or hardwire?
« on: April 16, 2011, 06:30:11 AM »
hi. If i need a 2 conditions of 888 (1) to be on in order to activate a process controlled by 888(2), before activating 888(3) when few conditions are satisfied. So there will be a total of 3 888 talking to each other. Should I use modbus for them to communicate or should i wire one of the output of 888(1) to input of 888(2) in order to have quick response? Thanks.

Technical support / Modbus

Hi. If I have a MD888 as a master, a laptop running Excel link to extract data from the master, master sending and collecting data from 2 slaves 888, will the system be fast? if slave 2 needs to depend on data from slave 1 to run, is it the best way to route the data from slave 2 to master then master to slave 1 in order to run? Or is there other ways?

Technical support / Motor Speed control
« on: February 04, 2011, 10:48:41 AM »
Hi. Currently trying to use a MD888 to control the speed of a motor. The motor is connected to a motor driver. MD888 will output a 0-5vdc analogue output to the driver and the driver will adjust the speed of the motor accordingly. When I use hscdef to stop the motor when hscpv[1]=0, the driver indicates an error of overload, meaning the stopping of the motor is too fast. I know this may be a problem of the driver but does anyone know how to implement a function to decelerate the motor accordingly and stop at the correct position with high repeatability? Thanks.

Hi. Is there any way to export the data from I-7018 directly to excel spreadsheet using comm port and RS485? If this can be done, the computer will be able to control the heater using MD888. Is it possible? Thanks.

Technical support / itrilogi 6.3 function
« on: January 23, 2011, 04:07:00 AM »
Hi. Can you check if you can insert functions under F2 and the contents of the functions remain the same? Eg. Function 1 has contents 111, Function 2 has 222, function 3 has 333, function 4 has 444. If I shift function 3 up, function 2 will be deleted. All contents of functions are correct. However, when i want to insert a new function into slot 2 by shifting down function 3, the contents of the functions are having problems. Is it me only or is the itrilogi having some bug?

Technical support / HSC
« on: January 11, 2011, 08:50:00 AM »
Hi. Encountered a strange problem again. I'm using MD888 to control 2 motors via inverter using setdac. The motors encoders are connected to the inverter and pin 3,4 is connected to first inverter and pin 5,6 is connected to second inverter. Whenever I run motor 1, the HSC 2 is increasing / decreasing randomly while HSC 1 is normal. What can be the cause? grounding issues again?

Thanks.

Hi. Currently have a MD888 loaded with a blank program, attached with a EXP4040. When I try to use ExcelLink to read input[2], the excel is hanging on me when I activate Input 32 on the EXP. I think it has something to do with the long integer of Excel? Any idea how to solve it?
