Title: Analog inputs
Post by: Tim C on March 15, 2004, 07:06:24 AM
I have a 888md plc  and  the analog inputs come in on a 15-pin 2 row D-Sub , What i am looking for is this D-sub that will take a ribbon cable, like the programing cable that comes with the plc's. I have looked for this until my eye's crossed....lol .  So if somone has a direct link to it, or could give me the correct name of it  I would be greatfull, Thank's    Tim

Go to Digikey.com and search for "D-sub ribbon" and you can find quite a few of them. The digikey catalog page for this is as follow:

http://dkc3.digikey.com/PDF/T041/0020.pdf

or search for part number: AMR15G-ND

In working with the DB15s Connectore to ribbon cable solution, you should beware that the pin numbering of 1 to 15 is not the same on the ribbon. I my case I wanted to terminate the ribbon to a PC board using a 16 pin dual in line protecetive header, AMP 103310-3, Digikey A26290-nd using a Socket ribbon connector, AMP 746285-3. The corresponding pin numbers ended like this

DB15P           16PIN Dual Header

 1                     1
 2                     3
 3                     5
 4                     7
 5                     9
 6                    11
 7                    13
 8                    15
 9                      2
10                     4
11                     6
12                     8
13                    10
14                    12
15                    14

I finally received the AMR15G-ND from Digi-Key and it was exactly what i wanted , but as mentioned above the pins and the ribbon dont match up , so ohm them out first ,or scratch your head later....lol   Thanks alot support

Thank you Ben for the useful notes regarding the pin out differences.
