MODBUS/TCP ?

I know that you have added ethernet support via the X-server. However, this does not take advantage of the nice MODBUS support you have provided. Any chance you will support MODBUS/TCP with this or other product ?

We thought about it initially but there are some technical difficulties to make it automatically support both the XServer native protocol as well as MODBUS TCP.
Our ASCII based native protocol make it easy for the XServer to support up to 4 connections with username/password login for each connection. When one connection is using the serial port the other connections can wait for their turn. But it is a different story to support MODBUS protocol since MODBUS is much more sensitive to timing and the protocol doesn't tolerate wait time very well. We may focus on this issue again in future but at the moment it is not a development priority.
