programming e-10s with win XP

Is there an issue with programming E-10s in a win XP dos box? Its been about a year since I needed to reprogram an E-10 and in that time I've switched to win XP, and I'm currently having com problems. Then again, maybe I've just got the com port settings wrong.

Windows XP does not allow a DOS program to take control of the hardware (including the com port) so the DOS TRiLOGI program that is used for programming the E10 PLC, when runs under Windows XP, NT or 2000 will have trouble communicating with the PLC.

Your best solution is to use a DOS diskette or Win95/98/ME startup disk to boot your PC into pure DOS mode and then run the DOS version of TRiLOGI software in pure DOS mode.

 I hope there is a plan to rewrite the E-10 softwre to work in a windows enviroment without Doss, I have about 30 of these units running traffic signal applications for the visually impaired up here in Canada.

Yes, we already released a Windows version of TRiLOGI software - WinTRiLOGI version 3.5. It works with newer E10+ PLCs. However, due to the timing compatibility issues between old E10 CPU and the Windows (Windows is too slow to react to the E10's required response time) we could not make the Windows version of the software work with the old E10npn and E10-Relays.
