E-10 NPN to T22H npn RS232 communication
« on: August 08, 2002, 05:14:06 AM »
I am new to PLCs and have a project with a short schedule and a small budget.  I was wondering if a E10 npn PLC could be installed in a wired control pendant to receive inputs from a 6 button membrane keypad and control indicator leds and then send a signal via RS232 to a T22H installed in the machine itself?

E10 and H-series PLC do not have ability to initial data via RS232 port. They are only slave and can respond to commands sent to them. Only M-series PLC has that ability to send via RS232 or RS485. If you use a M-series PLC (T100MD888+, for example), it can read the status of another PLC such as E10 or T22H-npn. E10 does not have a published set of host link command so it is actually better to use a T22H-npn. But if cost is a concern then E10 can work with a limited set of ASCII commands.
