nano 10 internet connection problems
« on: December 18, 2010, 06:23:26 AM »
Hi, I have had success in accessing the nano 10 on both a wireless LAN and via Ethernet cable, but am having problems with internet access. I am using the supplied 0.htm files as my test page.

Am using a home router before attempting doing the same with the company setup for ease. I've included the router info:

ADSL Port
MAC Address    00:25:69:32:72:5a
IP Address    2.125.95.108
Network Type    MER
IP Subnet Mask    255.255.255.192
Gateway IP Address    2.125.95.126
Domain Name Server    90.207.238.97    90.207.238.99
LAN Port
MAC Address    00:25:69:32:72:58
IP Address    192.168.0.1
DHCP    enable
IP Subnet Mask    255.255.255.0

The PLC is plugged in via Ethernet cable to the router(no PC's are currently on the network, just a phone via wireless to access the 0.htm webpage)
I have port forwarded 9080 on the router, and tried to connect to 2.125.95.108:9080, and have not changed any settings to the PLC that allowed it to be accessed on the LAN (via 192.168.0.50:9080).

can you please point out the obvious things I'm doing wrong here? thanks.

Your setup seems OK to me. Have you tried to ping the router using its public IP address (2.125.95.108)? The router may have setup to deny ping but if you ping it using a PC from within the LAN it should respond.

Next, use the PC within the LAN to try to connect to

http://2.125.95.108:9080/0.htm

if you can access the 0.htm page from within the LAN (but using router's public IP address) but can't do it from outside the network, then check that your router's firewall has allowed access from outside the network.

Hi, a ping to the public IP of the router was successful, but not to the homepage using the public IP-

I've added a rule to the firewall and that hasn't helped either (attached). I've used the ip address of the plc but should this be of the router?

Any other suggestions?

We have managed to ping your router IP address. You can't ping a specific port so it appears your router is online and does not deny external pinging.

So it is a question of the port forwarding setup and whether this router has any known issues with port forwarding. One of the D-Link routers we used previously has a buggy firmware and doesn't do port forwarding property even though the manual say it does. Whereas all other D-Link routers work without any problem.

Perhaps you can set up a VNC server on one PC and port forward the VNC port from the router to it, then try to do remote control of the PC via VNC server and see if it works.

If all else fails, try a different router. Most D-Link or Linksys routers don't have an issue.
