Nano-10 is not designed to play MP3 or any media files.
You can cet an Ipod or music player and hard wire its on/off switch to the Nano-10's relay output

I want to use it as an controller with audible alarms. Using an iPad would not be an acceptable solution. I need a small MP3 player that I can integrate into the whole soltion.

There are many buzzers on the market that make loud noise when you turn ON their power. The Nano-10 PLC can be used to supply power to the buzzer to trigger the alarm. However, you have only one alarm tone in this case.
