E10npn+ no special bits

Hello, I have just purchased an E10 npn starter kit. I am trying to insert a special bit 1 sec clock pulse, but I can't select the special bit option from the I/O table. I'm using Wintrilogi 3.53, when I connect to the plc and check the hardware it says I have a E+13. I have also loaded the  program SEQTEST.pe3 which has a 1 sec clock pulse and it works fine.

I just worked it out when I select  Edit , I/O Table you can't select the special bits, but if I insert a contact then I can select the special bits.
