Need Help with Stepper Motor
« on: June 03, 2007, 10:40:48 PM »
I have a T100MD+ PLC and I dont actually know how to connect it to a stepper motor. The PLC has stepper motor control on the PLC with two outputs; an output which will generate the required number of pulses and an output which will generate a direction signal. They say that I require a stepper motor driver. I want to know what driver to use and how I will connect everything together. As this is for a final year project that is currently being done at varsity, my budget is limited.

Please refer to the T100MD+ User manual regarding stepper motor controller interfacing to stepper motor driver. The type of stepper driver is dependent on the type of stepper motor you use (no. of wires) and the power requirement. So you need to check with a stepper motor supplier to get the appropriate stepper motor driver.

The PLC output direction and pulses via its NPN output (12/24V DC) so please check that the stepper motor driver can be configured to accept this kind of output signals from the PLC.
